Tulum Ruin
(aka Zama)
What makes this little ruin so special is its unique location next to the Caribbean Sea. It was a fortified harbor, until the Spaniards conquered it. From here the Mayans rowed large boats and traded with other Mayan tribes all the way to Central America, to probably, what is today known as Honduras, and beyond. |
It's not all ruins, however, and there is much else to be seen here
Iguanas, this one probably 2.5 - 3 feet long. The largest I've seen in my travel |
Reptiles, tour groups, great beaches, girls, birds, and in this case, me. |
This one was very busy in a large (hibiscus?) tree, right in front of the main temple. Maybe whatever made those holes in the leaves was the objective here, some bug or caterpillar |
And that's about the end of it. Another lovely day stored in memory. |
